Everybody in Italy that came out for the day that wasn’t a race.

David Millar. When he pulled on the Maglia Rosa he knew it’d come with some responsibility, but not this much. He’s handled the role of spokesman with dignity and grace.

Leopard-Trek, for inviting Tyler Farrar to ride in with them in place of Wouter Weylandt.

Wouter Weylandt’s family for laying flowers down on that descent.

Everybody who’s finding ways to express their hurt and respect.

2 points to the organizers. One for including something called The Gulperberg on the parcours. And as second for the best podium girl outfits east of the Tour of Gila.

Philippe Gilbert gets 15 points. Three for being the 3rd Belgian in a row to win a Classic, and 2 for punishing his rivals with a screaming infant up on the podium. Most importantly, 10 style points for wearing a big ol’hunk of wristwatch all day. Pillippe, what’s the time? “It’s time to get ill.”

Johan Van Summeran gets a point for going back to work a week after winning Paris-Roubaix. He’s a rouleur. It’s how he rolls. And a 2nd point for dropping out of the race early to hook up with his fiancé on the team bus.

A point for Fabulous and Tankik for their full-speed show. Though Spartacus is still on notice for the potential Hitler ‘stache. He has it in him.

Finally, Joaquin Rodriguez is docked 1 style point for turning off his computer after crossing the line. Get a wristwatch.

+1 for every rider, fan, mechanic, director, moto, official, photog, etc. who was in that dust bowl. Some people smoke for a lifetime cultivating coughs you’ll have this week.

Johan Van Summeren cleaned up more than his teeth, with 20 total points. Ten points for the win. 4 for pulling the “Cancellera Group” before ending up in the break he broke away from. 3 more for a riding style only Quasimodo could emulate (having personal style is important). 1 for getting your fiance the best rock known to man. 1 for having your own song, and another for defending the honor of your team this Spring.

More points for Spartacus. Towing the coffee-shop riders around is worth one, and then dropping them to ensure a podium spot that he doesn’t need garners another. That said, points will be deducted if this is the start of a Hitler mustache, and not just dirt.

Tommeke earned a point by burning his whole book of matches with a blowtorch trying to catchup. When it blew up, so did he. And let’s give Belgium’s rockstar another point for getting help from the Party-Girl. She’s probably 16.

Finally, Mr. Tchmil gets a point. Making Pipo climb into the broom wagon is cold, Mr. Tchmil. And yes, this point is awarded out of fear of Mr. Tchmil.

+7 for Nick Nuyens. Three of ‘em for picking the one right time to cover an attack, 2 for winning Flanders as a Flandrian, a point for the mesh undershirt and another for finding a minute to zip up before the sprint.

+5 for Spartacus. Two of ‘em for attempting what everybody knew was coming. Another for climbing the Muur only 5 seconds slower than he did last year. And 1 more point for never, ever, ever quitting on the race.

Which leads us to Garmin. Give Vaughters credit (though no points) for not letting his team work in case the race came back together. It did. But then to not have anybody stick to the leaders after the Muur? -1. And let’s deduct another couple points for the whole quitting thing.

Finally, +1 to Jurgen Roelandts for poppin’ a wheelie on the Kapelmuur.
